Software Products and Pricing

The Ontopia Knowledge Suite is a complete set of tools for building, maintaining, and deploying topic map-based applications. For more information on OKS components, please see Ontopia Knowledge Suite details.

The OKS is offered in three different editions, corresponding to the needs of different groups of users: Personal, Professional, and Enterprise. Each edition is available under both a Developer License and a Runtime License.

Developer Licenses provide access to the full functionality of the software and complete documentation. However, they may only be used by a single developer and for development purposes only. (As a reminder that they may not be used for deployed applications, Developer Licenses cause the engine to be automatically shut down after approximately 24 hours.)

For deployment of topic map applications built using the OKS, a Runtime License (per CPU) is required. Contact sales@ontopia.net for more details.

Annual support & maintenance is 20% of the list price.

Academic/non-profit discounts are available as well as a 'support-only' option for research into topic maps.

The OKS is also available under OEM licensing.


NEW: ACADEMIC LICENSES

Academic licenses and annual support and maintenance are available to academic, research, and charitable organizations at 50% of the price on Developer and Runtime Licenses (applicable to each Edition as listed below).

NEW: RESEARCH LICENSES

Annual research licenses, including support and maintenance, are available to academic and research institutions doing research into the use of topic maps for the cost of the annual support on a commercial Developer License (applicable to each Edition as listed below).

Note to Edition Licensing

The pricing for Developer Licenses is based on use by one (1) developer for all commercial licensing. Four (4) seats may be purchased for the price of three (3). In the case of Academic licensing, multiple users may have access to the Developer License for the single seat price.

The pricing for Runtime Licenses is based on one (1) CPU. Volume pricing for additional CPUs on one (1) server or for additional servers is also available.

PERSONAL EDITION

A full-featured topic map engine and Software Development Kit written in 100% Java. Supports both the ISO and XTM topic map specifications, including reification, facets, and merging. Includes the Omnigator and a topic map query engine based on the 'tolog' query language.

PROFESSIONAL EDITION

In addition to the Topic Map Engine and tolog, includes the Ontopia Navigator Framework, the Ontopia Web Editor Framework, the full-text integration, and schema tools based on the Ontopia Schema Language (OSL).

ENTERPRISE EDITION

Extends the Professional Edition with the RDBMS backend connector for persistent storage of very large topic maps in relational databases.

TOPIC MAP PROJECT KICK-START PACKAGE

All you need to kick-start your topic map project: A 3-day workshop covering concepts, syntax, and implementation issues; 2 days of additional consulting to guide you on your way; and a Developer License of the OKS Professional Edition. Contact us for more details.
