Omnigator |

Omnigator (short for omnivorous topic map navigator), can display any topic map that is loaded into it, with no programming or configuration at all. Omnigator is a technology showcase and teaching aid designed to help you understand the power of topic maps and convince others of that power. It can read any topic map format, and will make reasonable sense of any reasonably sensible topic map. This makes Omnigator a useful application in its own right, which can be used to 'debug' topic maps by making it easy to navigate and study them. It is also a platform for trying out and becoming familiar with the more powerful features of the Ontopia Topic Map Engine, such as schemas, the query language, scope filtering, and full-text indexing and searching. Omnigator has been developed using the Navigator Framework, and is a demonstration of the power of that framework. A consequence of this is that it displays topic maps stored in files and topic maps stored in RDBMS databases in exactly the same way. The screenshot below shows the topic representing the Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini as displayed by Omnigator. Omnigator is available as part of the OKS Samplers free download in a time-limited trial edition. An unlimited edition (including source code) comes with the Navigator Framework within the Professional and Enterprise Editions of the Ontopia Knowledge Suite.
