La Gioconda

The opera La Gioconda was composed by Amilcare Ponchielli to a libretto by Arrigo Boïto based on Angelo, Tyran de Padoue by Victor Hugo. It was first performed at Teatro alla Scala in Milan (Italy) on 1876-04-08 and published by Sonzogno. The opera is set in Venice.
